Scott Brannon was born on February 23, 1981 and has been a lifelong resident of Freeport. He graduated from Freeport High School and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Florida State University in Tallahassee. After graduation, he was an intern for Senator Charley Clary in Tallahassee. After returning to Freeport, he became a partner in his family business, Freeport Industries, Inc. The company is involved in real estate, rental property and construction.
Commissioner Brannon was elected to the Freeport City Council in 2000 and became chairman of the council in 2001. He is a member of the Walton County Republican Executive Committee and a former member of the Coastal Dune Lake Advisory Board. In August of 2004, he became the youngest person ever elected the Walton County Board of County Commissioners. Commissioner Brannon was elected as Chairman of the Board for 2005-2006.
